Window Shopping Wednesday #4

Happy hump day boys and girls! It’s a de facto Thursday for me, as we have Friday off to make our way over to lovely Belfast for the weekend. Cannot wait!

This week’s Window Shopping Wednesday has a bit of a pink and hearts theme to it…. it is Valentine’s day on Saturday I guess, so the shops are full of that sort of thing! I’ll be painting my nails a glorious rouge and packing the Kate Moss lipstick to celebrate 🙂

Top picks of the week…..the Clarins face treatment oil, which I shall be purchasing on Friday with this month’s lovely wages, and the gorgeously different Sophia Webster shoes…. which I shall not be purchasing with any sole month’s wages. I think that’s a few month’s worth of saving in them there heels!

Mani Monday – Wigmore Street

Another weekend gone! I hope it was a good one for you all. You can blame my lack of blogging on helping to babysit my little niece on Friday and then a nice spot of family visiting and food eating on Saturday and Sunday 🙂 I can’t complain really! In honesty it was nice to have a quiet and relaxed weekend, as we’ve got a busy couple of weeks coming up! Belfast this weekend (James’ 30th birthday present) and then down to London for the National Cross Country Championships the weekend after…..I must admit, I’m looking forward to that one a little less :-/

Today’s Mani Monday is a lovely deep purple shade that was actually a freebie in a magazine! Glamour ran a promotion with Nails Inc a few months back, offering one of four different shades with the magazine. I bought 2…..ahem…..

This is the deep and aubergine-esque Wigmore Street 🙂

Window Shopping Wednesday #3

Morning everyone! Happy middle of the week 🙂 Today’s Window Shopping Wednesday selection has a little bit of spring creeping through – just as the temperature has hit a bit of a downward dip, bbrrrr.

The jumper is a little nod to that quiet and unassuming day of amour that’s coming up next week! The shoes are from Agnes and Norman’s S/S15 range, and I just love them. I have selected the Daily Microfoliant by Dermalogica as I am pretty impressed with the Dermal Clay Cleanser I bought last week – I’ve only been using it for 7 days but I can already see an improvement in my skin. Happy days! And the red lipstick is….well….just because, really. Who doesn’t want a red lipstick in their life?!

Have a lovely day whatever you may be doing 🙂

Books on my Hot List for 2015

Following on from my review of my favourite books of 2014; today’s post is a run down of (some of) the books on my reading list for 2015.

I am one of those people that cannot walk past a bookshop without going in ‘just for a browse’ and walking out with at least one book (normally 2 or 3, let’s be honest) to add to the stack of books on the bedside cabinet. It’s already so high that it almost blocks the light from my bedside lamp! So it is probably safe to say that this isn’t a comprehensive list and there will be additions over the year – another 11 books with my book group; for a start!

On my list currently, in no order of preference, are:

The Bookshop Book – Jen Campbell

How to be a Woman – Caitlin Moran

The Joy Luck Club – Amy Tan (January’s book group read)

Americanah – Chimamanda Ngozi Adiche

Gone Girl – Gillian Flynn

How to Build a Girl – Caitlin Moran

The Casual Vacancy – J.K. Rowling

Late Fragments – Kate Gross

Yes Please – Amy Poehler

The stand-outs for me from the list above are ‘How to be a Woman’, which I’m halfway through now and loving; and ‘Late Fragments’ which I bought after listening to a Woman’s Hour interview with the author’s mother. Kate Gross was a charity CEO, who died on Christmas Day last year after a battle with colon cancer. The interview really caught my attention – her mother spoke so openly about her achievements, her illness and her approach to her terminal illness, and Kate sounded like such a brilliant figure. When I got home from work that day I immediately ordered the book.

Yes Please - Late Fragments

I can think of many others I would like to read as well – Not That Kind Of Girl by Lena Dunham, The Silkworm by Robert Galbraith, Elizabeth is Missing by Emma Healey……so many books, so little time!! I would love to develop a little reading nook in our house this year as well – we’ll see what James will let me get away with 😉

I suppose I had better go and get settled with one of these beauties, then – I have a lot to get through!

Happy reading

Mani Monday – Colville Mews

Order is restored to Earl Grey and Cupcakes once more! Mani Monday is back on my calendar now that the Nail Art Challenge is finished. To kick start things off again I’ve picked a varnish I received from James’ mam for Christmas – Colville Mews gel effect polish by Nails Inc.

This is a nice neutral colour that goes on quite smoothly, and 2 coats was enough for me to get good coverage. A nice, calm start to the week ahead 🙂

January Nail Art Challenge: Silver

I know, I know – technically it’s not January any more (Happy February!) but I have the final instalment of the January Nail Art Challenge to share with you today.

This is the last of 11 nail design challenges set by Californails. Over the month we’ve seen sparkles, re-creation, studs, gradients (NOT my favourite thing) to name but a few! The final design is a plain and simple silver. Ironically, when I came to do this design yesterday I realised I don’t actually own a real silver polish – must rectify that! In the end I used Essie ‘Over The Edge‘ topped with a silver sparkle polish from No.7.

I shall leave you with a collage of my designs this month…..I am off to watch the rest of Murray v Djokovik in the Australian Open Final. What a match!!

Enjoy your Sunday!
